Mission
Teams of Our Lady is a movement of Christian Marriage Spirituality in the Catholic Church, which brings together couples united by the Sacrament of Matrimony, and who wish, together, to deepen the graces of their Sacrament.
It offers married couples a pathway toward love, happiness and holiness.
This movement’s aim is to help couples live fully their Sacrament of Marriage.
What Teams of Our Lady is Not
- It is not a Bible study, but we read Scripture and learn about God.
- It is not a therapy group, but we share and support each other on our life journey toward Christ.
- It is not for counseling. Everything is held in strict confidence and all sharing is voluntary. We offer advice only if it is requested (usually done in private).
- It is not for troubled marriages. The Church offers other programs to help with serious marital issues. One such recommended program is Retrouvaille.
- It is not a supper club. A simple meal is shared at the beginning of each meeting and each person participates in light sharing and active listening.
Meeting Format
Each team meets monthly, rotating from one home to another. If a couple cannot accommodate the entire team, they can make other arrangements (possibly a meeting room at church). The meeting begins with a potluck meal and follows a prescribed format, with the meeting lasting about three hours.
A meeting includes the following:
- Meal and Sharing: A simple meal is shared around a common table while each person shares their highs and lows while others actively listen.
- Prayer Time: This includes a Scripture reading, meditation on the reading, prayer intentions, a Psalm and a concluding prayer.
- Deep Pooling: An opportunity to discuss any pertinent topics that a couple or individual may have that are more involved than the sharing at the table.
- Sharing on the Endeavors: The endeavors are the “heart of the team”… what we learn and put into practice between meetings.
- Discussion of Study Topic: We share our thoughts and reflections on our answers to questions at the conclusion of the monthly reading materials.
- Administrative Matters: Set the schedule for future meetings and share on the team’s news and events.
- Close with prayer:
