I'm New to St. Francis de Sales. Where Do I Start?
Welcome to our parish community in the heart of Newark, Ohio! We’re so glad you’ve decided to join us. If you haven’t already, say hi to our pastor, Fr. Tom Gardner and our parochial vicars (associate pastors), Fr. Mike Gentry and Fr. Anish Thomas. They would love to meet you!
The work we do at St. Francis is arguably the most important in the world - bringing souls to salvation through Jesus Christ. To that end, we are a parish founded in purpose to love and worship God, to love one another, and to make Jesus known. With the guidance of the Holy Spirit and God’s Word, and nourished by the Eucharist, each of us, no matter our age and no matter where we are on our faith journey, endeavors to cultivate our personal faith life and to contribute to and grow our parish community
Doors are usually open early before Mass starts, and volunteers are available to help you find a seat. We have various ministries and activities available in the parish so please don’t hesitate to ask any of our volunteers about ways to get connected. You also stop by the parish office in the Faith & Family Center which is open Monday - Friday, 9:30am - 4pm and Sundays, 9:30a - 12:30pm.
At St. Francis Parish we want to deeply love God, to love one another, and to make the name of Jesus known. Check out the short welcome below to get a sense of what we’re all about!

If you have never been to Mass before, or if you haven't gone in a long time, we are excited to have you join us as we celebrate and worship together. We understand that it may feel foreign at first, and that some parts might seem confusing. The last thing we would want is for you to feel unwelcome during the service, so we have created a little guide for you to help you understand the liturgy a little better.
